Samionics does avionics modifications ranging from simple plug/play replacements to full “stack” installations. One installation that was released just before christmas was a Cessna 172R operated by Motorflygarna Uppsala FK. The requirements were quite clear – remove the existing COM/NAV1 King KX155A, GPS King KLN89B and also the moving map display KMD150. Install a Garmin GTN650, 8.33kHz  COM and WAAS approved GPS. The owner also wanted an approved USB charger (Mid Continent Instruments TA102 dual port USB charger 2 x 5V/2.1 Amp) and a “RAM” base mount for different portable electronic devices.

We would like to remind our customers that we have an EASA minor change approval for plug/play replacement of an existing King KX155/165/155A for a King KX165A 28V 8.33kHz COM/NAV. In most cases the actual replacement including ground checks can be done in 1-2 hours. Most paper work is already available and the remaining updates of the aircraft technical records can be done in a few hours. This modification is only applicable for aircraft with a 28V electrical system.
